Where do my files go?
On the hosted site, your PDFs and images are processed inside your browser. When you start the toolbox with the local launcher, PDF compression uses a service on your own computer and removes temporary files after each request. Your files are never sent to an Akeluwa cloud server.
What needs an internet connection?
The hosted website needs an internet connection to load. PDF tools load their libraries from this website. Background removal also downloads its library and AI model from external providers, which can take longer on the first run. Processing happens on your device.
What happens when I finish?
Closing or refreshing the tab clears the active editing workspace. Files you download remain on your device. Your browser may keep the tool libraries and AI model in its cache.
Can I edit any PDF?
The editor adds text and images over your document and can cover and replace selectable text. Scanned documents need OCR, which isn’t included. Covering text is a visual edit and does not securely remove the original content.

How to remove an image background
Create a transparent cutout for a portrait, product photo, or design. The tool loads an AI model and processes the chosen image on your device.
- Choose a PNG, JPG, or WebP image up to 20 MB.
- Start background removal and wait for the model and processing to finish.
- Compare the original with the cutout and download the transparent PNG.
The first run needs an internet connection to download the AI model. Clear separation between the subject and background usually helps. Complex hair, transparent objects, or similar foreground and background colors can need further editing.

What format is the downloaded cutout?
The output is a PNG with transparency.
Is there a manual edge editor?
This tool provides an automatic cutout and preview. It does not currently include manual edge correction.
